Research in progress · backing open

Back the verdict the sky can keep.

Vyom is an instrument under construction, not a subscription — an independent, pre-registered verdict engine for exoplanet biosignature claims. This is the moment when backing counts most: before revenue, while the standard is being hardened in the open. You can fund the validation, partner the inputs, lend compute, or help shape the standard itself.

01Foundations

Fund the validation

Foundations, agencies, patrons

The pipeline is operational and pre-registered; the work left is closing the biosignature-grade gaps — chief among them the M-dwarf stellar-contamination model that sank the K2-18 b headline. Sponsorship buys researcher time to land it in the open, with the result released either way.

Sponsor the science
02Observatories

Partner the inputs

Observatories, survey & instrument teams

A verdict is only as good as what it sees. Shared follow-up time on contested worlds, early or embargoed archive access under agreement, or a triage collaboration that points scarce JWST hours at the spectra that can actually move a target up the ladder.

Lend the compute

Cloud & compute providers

Amortized retrieval is cheap per target, but training the estimator and running nested-sampling cross-checks across the archive is not. GPU credits go directly into wider coverage, tighter calibration, and the abiotic-null comparisons that gate every verdict.

04Research groups

Collaborate early

Research groups, referees, journals

Bring a target before the standard is finished. Pressure-test a claim against a neutral, calibrated retrieval, co-design the seven-standard scorecard, or critique the pre-registration. Early collaborators help shape the verdict the whole field can keep.

Start a collaboration

None of these is a purchase of a finished product. Every one is a way to carry an open research program across its next bar — and to be named where the work is published.

where backing goes

Every contribution maps to a specific next step.

The validation

Closing the M-dwarf stellar-contamination model (the S1 standard) and tightening simulation-based calibration — the work that moves verdicts from honest disequilibrium statements toward the community's life-detection bar.

The coverage

Compute to extend the uniform retrieval across more of the public JWST archive, with a nested-sampling cross-check on every critical claim — breadth and neutrality, by construction.

The standard

Researcher time to harden the seven Standards-of-Evidence scorecard and the pre-registration into a framework observatories, journals, and agencies can adopt.

Become a patron.

Whether it's a personal pledge, a sponsorship, a crowdfunding contribution, or compute and observation time — tell us what you have in mind and we'll find the cleanest way to put it to work. Every backer is named where the work is published.

This is research funding and partnership, not a purchase: no product and no security on offer, only a program you can help carry to a verdict.
